Yes, this is All India Radio, Ahmedabad – Vadodara Ahmedabad and Vadodara are two different cities, but the radio transmitters is shared by both, Ahmedabad and vadodara, & hence the name of this station.
Vadodara was the first radio station in Gujarat, owned by the princely state of Gaikwad of Vadodara, was operational since 1939. It merged with AIR on 16th December, 1948 Later Ahmedabad station was established, which commenced radio service from 16th April, 1949.
Ahmedabad is the capital station Gujarat, and with its 200 KW transmitter, it serves the entire state. The programmers are available with fairly good quality in neighboring states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and maharashtra – and also parts of Pakistan. |
